Nammo has been a valued partner for Revolve NTNU across multiple generations of our race cars, supporting teams R25, R24, R23, and several earlier teams before R19. This longstanding relationship has evolved into a collaboration that significantly influences both our car's performance and our development as engineers.
Nammo's expertise in high-precision manufacturing has directly improved our race cars' performance on the track. This year, they've produced critical components for our steering system and pedal box, and our motors - parts that must be perfectly machined to ensure reliability and driver confidence at high speeds.
Our collaboration with Nammo goes far beyond just producing parts. Their team has provided valuable training sessions in machine drawings and geometrical product specifications (GPS), helping us understand how to design parts that are both highperforming and manufacturable.
These sessions bridge the gap between our theoretical knowledge from university courses and the practical requirements of real-world engineering. By learning directly from Nammo's experienced professionals, we've significantly improved our approach to designing critical components.
One of the highlights of our collaboration has been the "Østlandsturne," where our marketing team and several technical members traveled to Nammo's facilities to showcase our race car and present Revolve NTNU's work. These visits have been valuable opportunities to demonstrate how their manufacturing expertise translates into real-world performance on our vehicle.
The presentations also allowed us to share our journey, challenges, and successes with the Nammo team, strengthening our relationship and helping them see the direct impact of their support on our project.
After this year's winter holiday, members of our mechanical department traveled to Nammo's facilities for an immersive learning experience. The trip included a comprehensive tour of their manufacturing facilities, giving our team insights into advanced production techniques and quality control processes.
A highlight of the visit was a dedicated workshop where our team presented their component designs, and Nammo's experts provided valuable feedback and suggestions for improvements. This direct consultation with industry professionals helped refine several critical components before production.
The trip wasn't all work, though! The team also enjoyed an evening at the local water park ("badeland"), creating memories and strengthening the personal connections that make this partnership special. These informal interactions build trust and communication that enhance our technical collaboration.
A particularly valuable aspect of our partnership is our connection with Nammo's Bedriftskole. This unique educational program helps develop skilled manufacturers who understand both the theoretical and practical aspects of precision engineering.
Working alongside the students and instructors from Bedriftskole gives our team insights into manufacturability considerations that we might otherwise miss. These interactions have improved our designs and reduced the number of revisions needed before production.
The impact of Nammo's expertise is evident in our car's performance. Components manufactured by Nammo have helped us achieve:
Last season, our car's steering system (with Nammo-manufactured components) performed flawlessly throughout testing and competition, contributing to our strong results.
As we continue developing our next generation race car, we're excited to build on this strong foundation with Nammo. Their commitment to precision and educational excellence aligns perfectly with our values as a student racing team.
We're especially looking forward to implementing the lessons we've learned about manufacturing precision into our new designs, creating a car that's not just fast on paper but optimized for real-world performance.
